INTRODUCTION

I have always made friends with our artists. When the gallery firstly
opened 24 years ago, they brought me along to their artistic journeys
that are still ongoing until today.

This is the case with Hanafi. Even though he lives in Jakarta, we always
find time for breakfast in Ubud every few months. His pursuit of the
abstracted and the imaginary forms create visually illuminating artworks

that almost seems architectural. We are pleased to provide a space for
his world to unveil.

For 57 x 76 he has brought me along, once again, but on his journey with

Goenawan Mohamad. The collaboration proved to serve many parts,
especially the world of visual art and literature. Hanafi's essence is still
recognizable as with GM's presence on these paintings. The two artists
live in their artistic realms, yet successfully co-exists together within the

works in this exhibition. They have exhibited 57 x 76 in Galeri Nasional,
and now it is traveling to Komaneka Fine Art Gallery. 57 x 76 also marks
Hanafi's first non-solo exhibition with us since his first exhibit in 2001.
