With 120 years of inherited dyeing and weaving industry in Hachioji, Tokyo our workshops in the mountainous Yamanashi region and as far as Bali, Indonesia, continue using traditional techniques in sericulture, rearing wild silkworms, spinning, dyeing and weaving.
Inspired by regional influences we use skills acquired over time. Mixing a variety of hand-spun yarns of different textures – thick, thin, hard, soft – we create a modern textile.
This exhibition includes textiles which gives a new aesthetic feel and look. Our pieces include “Tensan” shawls created from Japanese wild cocoons also known as Diamond Silk. Shawls using natural dyes from Bali plants are also showcased.
You are invited to view our art pieces which brings together the flavours of Asia, Japan and Bali.
