I Made Arya Palguna

Arya Palguna also interprets sources from the cultural treasury of Bali. A number of his works show such compositions as in the series Icons I – VIII which have his impressions or ideas about Balinese women. In his eyes they are calm, energetic, strong, beautiful or even vigilant, connected meanings that have long been socially deconstructed in Bali. Constructions by men in a patriarchy until now have become a kind of collectively maintained myth.

I Wayan Sudarna Putra

The male body in Sudarna Putra’s installation is identified with desire. One needs not to look further than the elements of collage in this work with the number of printed media cutouts plastered on which explicitly show the faces and even the buttocks of women. In the metal and wire frames of the male bodies, one can immediately interpret as the social construction that places man as The Superior One, a reality connected with parallels in passion, strength or even insanity.
